A New Jersey appeals court has concluded that Americans have no Second Amendment right to buy a handgun. In a case decided last week, the superior court upheld a state law saying that nobody may possess "any handgun" without obtaining law enforcement approval and permission in advance. Now think about that for a moment, then think about the original intent of our Second Amendment Rights. In the words of Thomas Jefferson himself: "The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." And "The beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." So here is a court telling the people that they have no right to buy a handgun without first getting permission from the government. Does anyone else see the problem with this? Or am I just one of the few who got the "Doublespeak Vaccine"?
